The 2nd International Workshop on Multimedia for Cultural Heritage (along with all other Workshops and Tutorials of the 17th International Conference on Image Analysis and Processing - ICIAP 2013) will be held in Villa Doria D'Angri, via Petrarca, in the area of Posillipo, Naples.
The villa of Marcantonio Doria, Prince of Angri, is Bartolomeo Grassos most significant work and the most important Neoclassical villa of Posillipo. In 1592, Vittoria Carafa donated to Isabella della Tolfa, wife of Marcantonio Doria, a vast estate including a villa known as Masseria di Posillipo. Bartolomeo Grasso was joined by architects Guglielmo Bechi, who oversaw the decoration of the interior, Luigi Gaddi, Antonio Francesconi, who built the Chinese pagoda, and a large team of artists and craftsmen, who remained under Grassos direction for almost the whole duration of the work. After the passing away of Marcantonio Doria, who died in his villa in 1837, the family moved out of the property. After many maintenance and consolidation works had been conducted under the direction of architect Antonio Francesconi, on 10 March 1857 Dorias heirs sold the villa to Miss Ellinor Giovanna Susanna Maitland, an English noblewoman. Richard Wagner, one of her guests, composed his Falstaff during his permanence in the Villa Doria D'Angri. The villa has been recently acquired by University of Naples Parthenope, partially funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR).
A bus shuttle will be freely available for the attendees to Villa Doria D'Angri from Piazza Vittoria, close to Castel dell'Ovo, from 8 AM to 7 PM on September 9 and 10, 2013.
Wireless connectivity will be provided for the whole duration of the workshop.
